Rosso di Montalcino 2011 on Enogea #57

Alessandro Masnaghetti talked about our Rosso di Montalcino 2011, which scores 90+ points and stands out as the best Rosso, before most of all the Brunellos tasted, in the latest Enogea issue,.

Here's what Masnaghetti wrote:

The only Rosso di Montalcino [...] which regularly tries something that goes beyond the boundaries of the typology. An attempt that in this 2011 edition takes the form of a wine of rare personality, more fruity than usual and at the same time pleasantly "dripped", prickly, with salty notes, of meat, tobacco, earth and finally ash. Structure of great discretion, elegant and almost suspended, as if waiting for the wine to find a complete and deeper amalgam. Give it a couple of years.

A message from Darryl

Lionel "listening" to the must - Courtesy of Darryl Randall

A few days ago Mr. Darryl Randall from Swiss Luxury came to Cupano to visit our vineyards and cellar. We would like to share with you the message he wrote us yesterday.

Good Evening Lionel!

I wanted to Email you a sincere thank you for your hospitality and the time you generously provided our family last Saturday during our visit to your beautiful estate. As a small business owner myself it was interesting to see in person the hands on approach that you take to all facets of production and the impressive results certainly show. What a perfect day with the Tuscan sunshine, great conversation, fantastic wine and also the delicious food provided by your lovely wife. I was familiar with the quality of your Brunellos from drinking several bottles over the course of my last two visits to La Bandita but was really surprised at just how terrific the 2011 Rosso was drinking and today am ordering some of your wines from Italian Wine Merchants including a magnum which I will surprise my Mom & Dad with at this year’s Christmas dinner. Attached is one of my favorite pictures from the afternoon (we really used all of our senses!!):

Best wishes to you and your family,

Darryl Randall

Hope to see you back soon, Darryl!

Andrea Gori about our Rosso di Montalcino 2011 on Intravino

Rosso di Montalcino 2011

Cupano è il solito incantesimo di spezia, canfora, cardamomo, piccante e lascivo, bocca con tanta sostanza e alcol, ma chi lo ha sempre apprezzato lo amerà anche in questa annata. 90

Cupano is the usual enchantment of spice, camphor, cardamom, spicy and lascivious, on the palate great substance and alcohol, but who has always appreciated it will definitely love this vintage. 90
